N.H. to See First Major Snowfall of the Winter Season

ALLEGRA BOVERMAN FOR NHPR

The state will see its first major snowstorm of the winter season Saturday.

The southern part of the state up to the Lakes Region is expected to get 3 to 6 inches from the afternoon well into the evening.

More than 300 plows are expected to be on the roads. Some planned to be out early to lay down salt in preparation for the storm.

Bill Boynton, of the state’s Department of Transportation, warns drivers to plan ahead.

“You are looking at slippery roads when it’s snowing – it’s as simple as that and you are not going to go 10 miles in 10 minutes," Boynton said. "And so you may have been doing that for the past several months but it’s time to start thinking about winter driving. Make sure your car is in winter conditions with tires and wipers.”

More snow is also in the forecast for early next week.
