It’s Time to Clear Your Roofs and Drains of Snow Before Rain Arrives

FILE

New Hampshire officials are warning residents to take some precautions as extreme cold is replaced by rain.

Warm weather is in the forecast…but given the recent snow, the higher temperatures could cause new problems.

Michael Todd of the state’s Department of Safety says that includes flooding.

“We are strongly urging residents to go out clear your drains, clear any culverts of debris, clear out the ice and the snow that might be blocking the drainage because when you see this much rain – the ground is frozen and if you have a blocked culvert or a blocked drain you could get some localized flooding," Todd said.

Officials are also urging residents to clear their roofs – stressing that the rainfall mixed with the recent snowfall could led to roof collapses.
