Complaint Filed Over Ruling to Return Gun from Smart Murder Case

AP/Jim Cole

Pamela Smart's mother has filed a complaint with the state Judicial Conduct Committee regarding a New Hampshire judge's recent release of the gun used to kill Gregg Smart in 1990.

Linda Wojas tells WMUR-TV that she filed the complaint on April 8, a little more than a week after Rockingham Superior Court Judge Andrew Schulman ruled to return the firearm to its owner.

The owner of the weapon is the father of Vance Lattime Jr., one of four teens who served prison time in connection with the murder of Smart's husband.

Wojas' complaint accuses Schulman of injecting his personal views into the case by "perpetuating the false narrative that has driven the hate-filled public in New Hampshire for my daughter."

Schulman's office didn't respond to request for comment.
