Sue Benson and her husband James have been running the Thanksgiving meal since the very first, when they opened up their restaurant to serve people for free.
Sue says she was inspired by a man that used to hang around outside.
"He never had any money and he'd pick out of the garbage,” she says. “And I'd go over there and say no, no, no, no, no. Let me make you whatever you want, it's on me."
The tradition has grown. Last year, with the help of volunteers, they were able to serve Thanksgiving dinner to about 500 people.
But this year some thought it might be the time for Sue to end the dinner. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently going through chemotherapy.
"And I said, nuh uh. This is my baby and I'm going to continue to do it as long as I can. As long as I can. And it will be another one, believe me."
Sue says all are welcome at the meal, which will take place this year at the All Saints Church in Wolfeboro.
