Republican Rich Ashooh has conceded to incumbent Frank Guinta in their primary in the state's 1st Congressional District.
With 96 percent reporting, Guinta leads Ashooh by 661 votes, or about 1 percent of the vote.
Wednesday morning, Ashooh issued a statement, saying that despite the close margin, "I am conceding this race to my opponent so that the Republican ticket may immediately position itself for victory in November."
Guinta won the nomination despite have been found to have accepted an illegal $355,000 donation from his parents during his 2010 campaign. The Federal Election Commission concluded the donation was illegal and ordered Guinta to repay the money and pay a $15,000 fine.
Top Republicans in the state, including Sen. Kelly Ayotte, called on Guinta to step down.
Tuesday, Ayotte reiterated that was still her position.
Guinta's victory sets up his fourth match-up against Democrat and former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter.
Guinta ousted Shea-Porter in 2010, who then defeated him in 2012. Guinta was elected back to Congress in 2014.
