Ahead Of Thanksgiving Holiday, New England Is Hitting The Road

With gas prices just north of $2 a gallon, and no freak holiday snowstorm in sight like last year, about 1.8 million New Englanders are hitting the road this Thanksgiving. That's up from last year.

Holiday air travel is expected to grow this year, too; officials at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport are advising passengers to arrive at least 2 hours prior to departure.

And the Amtrak Downeaster service is preparing for additional riders today, says Patricia Quinn of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority.

"We are adding an extra car," Quinn says, "so that all of our train sets will have just about 400 seats available."

AAA Northern New England expects just over 2 million New Englanders traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday.
