House Budget Writers To Hear From Public At Statehouse Hearing

Allegra Boverman for NHPR

Members of the public get a chance to weigh in on the proposed 2-year state budget this afternoon at the Statehouse.

The public hearing will be held in the House chamber and lawmakers expect a big crowd. Those who will testify include advocates, lobbyists and everyday citizens.

Spending for social programs tend to attract the most testimony such as services for the elderly, substance abuse and the developmentally disabled.

This is the last of three public hearings on the state budget. Earlier sessions were held in Derry and Plymouth last week.

House budget writers have until April to craft their version of the state spending plan before it goes to the Senate.
