Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan is in Washington, D.C., to attend a conference of the nation's governors, meet with President Barack Obama and the other Democratic governors and deliver a speech to a progressive organizing group.
Hassan is paying for her trip to the National Governors Association's winter meeting with funds from her inaugural committee. She arrived Friday and will return to New Hampshire Monday after speaking at the America Votes State Summit. Sessions Hassan is attending at the NGA meeting include a reception with adjutants general, a meeting with the Coalition of Northeastern Governors and a meeting of the education and workforce committee — of which Hassan is vice chair.
Democratic governors attended a separate meeting with Obama at the White House on Friday, Hassan's spokesman William Hinkle said.
