Casinos are shaping up to be a key issue in the 2nd Congressional District’s Republican primary.
At competing events Monday, several state representatives from Salem who back expanded gaming publicly endorsed GOP candidate Gary Lambert.
Meanwhile in Concord, anti-casino activists defended fellow Salem Representative Marilinda Garcia’s vote against a plan to legalize two casinos, despite overwhelming public support in her district.
Steve Duprey with the group Casino Free New Hampshire says Garcia deserves credit for looking out for the “greater good” of New Hampshire.
“Perhaps if there were more of that on both sides of the aisle, Republican and Democrat, liberal and conservative, we might have a more effective congress,” says Duprey.
Garcia is in her fourth term in the New Hampshire House, while Lambert was a State Senator from 2010-2012. They are running to take on incumbent Democrat Ann McLane Kuster.
