The renovation of the Balsams resort has moved ahead with state officials giving the developers permissionto fill in about 2.7 acres of wetlands for uses ranging from a parking lot to six ski towers.
To offset the destruction of the wetlands the developers will preserve other land totaling about 960 acres.
State development officials have been enthusiastic about the reopening of the Balsams, saying it would give the North Country an enormous economic boost.
The approval was praised by officials including Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, Gov. Hassan and State Senator Jeff Woodburn.
The developers, Dixville Capital LLC, are still working on financing.
