In the North County incumbents kept their offices, according to unofficial results from the Associated Press.
Sen. Jeff Woodburn, a Democrat from Dalton was re-elected, beating challenger Mark Evans, a Republican from Berlin. Woodburn had 9,056 votes to Evans’ 5,741 with 80 percent of the precincts reporting.
In the race for Executive Council incumbent Republican Joseph Kenney was re-elected with 42,838 votes over Democrat Michael Cryans with 41,297 and 84 percent of the precincts reporting.
In other races:
* Coos District 1 – Incumbent Republican Larry Rappaport and newcomer John Fothergill, also a Republican, were unchallenged for the two seats.
* Coos District 2 - Incumbent Democrat Wayne Moynihan beat Republican challenger Leif Becker. Moynihan received 759 votes to Becker's 700 with all the precincts reporting.
* Coos District 3 – In a race for three seats, incumbent Democrats Robert Theberge and Yvonne Thomas were re-elected along with Democrat AletheaFroburg. Theberge had 1,989 votes; Thomas 1,799; Froburg 1,691 and Republican Eric Catman 826 with all the precincts reporting.
* Coos District 4 – Incumbent Republican Herb Richardson beat Democratic challenger Troy Merner. Richardson had 620 votes compared to Merner’s 387 with all the precincts reporting.
* Coos District 5 – Republican John Tholl beat Democrat Arthur Hammon. Tholl had 714 votes to Hammon’s 658, with 75 percent of the precincts reporting.
* Coos District 6 – Incumbent Democrat William Hatch was re-elected in an uncontested race.
* Coos District 7 – Incumbent Republican Leon Rideout was re-elected in an uncontested race.
* Grafton District 1 – With two seats available, Democrat incumbent Linda Massimilla won re-election and will be joined by Republican newcomer Erin Hennessey, who also received the most votes. Massimilla had 1,330 votes; Hennessey 1,483; Republican Kevin Hastings 1,307 and Democrat Donna Devlin 1,285.
* Grafton District 2 – Incumbent Democrat Rebecca Brown was re-elected with 967 votes over Republican Peter Nightingale with 696 and eighty percent of the precincts reporting.
* Grafton District 3 – Incumbent Democrat Susan Ford was re-elected with 906 votes over Republican challenger Greg Sorg with 821 votes and eighty-six percent of the precincts reporting.
* Grafton District 4 – Incumbent Republican Rick Ladd was re-elected in an uncontested race.
* Grafton District 5 – Incumbent Republican Edmond Gionet was re-elected in an uncontested race.
* Grafton District 14 – Incumbent Republican Brad Bailey won re-election with 2,807 votes over Democrat Douglas Grant with 1,730 and 86 percent of the precincts reporting.
