Molly Kelly Hits the Ground Running Day After Primary Win in Race for N.H. Governor

Sarah Gibson for NHPR

After a strong primary win last night, Democrat Molly Kelly launched the next stage of her bid for Governor at the Red Arrow Diner, a famous political pit stop in downtown Manchester.

Kelly stuck to her campaign message that despite his high approval ratings, Governor Sununu works for special interests, not everyday Granite Staters.

"I think our governor is out of touch with the people who get up every day and take care of their families and go to work, and I'm not," she said. "I know what that's like - I understand the struggles of working families because that's who I am."

Kelly vowed to take Governor Sununu to task on issues of paid family medical leave and state funding for public education.

She also reiterated her support for renewable energy.

When asked about Liberty Utilities' proposed Granite State Pipeline, which would run through parts of Manchester and adjacent towns, Kelly said: "The bottom line is that I would not support a project that did not lower our carbon footprint and was not safe in our communities."
