Republican VP Nominee Pence Draws Crowd in Milford

Emily Corwin

Republican Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence held a campaign rally in Milford today.  Nancy Polydys drove two hours from Scotland, Connecticut, and wore a T-shirt that reads: “proud deplorable” – a reference to Hillary Clinton’s recent description of some of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s supporters.

"I don’t mind immigrants if they come legally," she says, "but we have to stop bringing in all these Muslims."

Polydys says ending what she calls “globalism,” and keeping immigrants of the Muslim faith out of the United States “for now” are important parts of Pence and Trump’s message.

Pence, meanwhile, stuck to a less controversial message. Pence told audience members that he and Donald Trump share a faith in God, a dedication to conservative values, and that they will fight to bring the American Dream back "for every American regardless of race, or creed, or color, or gender."

After the event, Pence told audience members, he would head to the first presidential debate, in N.Y, Monday evening.
