New Hampshire-Based Battalion Headed To Kuwait

Around 150 members of an Army Reserve battalion based in Londonderry are heading to the Middle East to support the fight against the so-called Islamic State.

The members of 368th Engineer Battalion are taking part in a deployment ceremony this afternoon at Saint Anselm College.

They will then head to Kuwait for about a year, doing construction work and logistics operations.

The governor's office says the battalion is deploying in support of Operation Spartan Shield, which trains soldiers from countries partnering with the US against ISIS fighters.

Officials have not specified how many members are being deployed.
