State agencies are starting to present their budget requests for New Hampshire's next two-year budget to Gov. Maggie Hassan.

Agencies will begin submitting their requests Thursday and the process will continue Friday and Monday. This is the first step in the process of crafting the budget for 2016 and 2017, which will dominate much of the upcoming legislative year. Hassan will use the requests to craft a budget that she will present to the Legislature in February. Both legislative chambers then create their own versions of the budget and all sides must agree to a final budget by June 30.

The University System of New Hampshire and the safety and transportation departments will present their requests Thursday. Health and Human Services, the state's largest agency, will make its request Friday.
