Seabrook Officer Indicted On Assault Charge For Alleged Police Brutality

A Seabrook police officer has been indicted on one count of simple assault in connection to an incident of alleged police brutality.

According to the attorney general’s office, the indictment alleges Officer Mark Richardson slammed a man’s head into a concrete wall at the Seabrook police department in November of 2009.

The incident was caught on tape and the alleged victim, Michael Bergeron Junior, posted the video on YouTube.

An arraignment will be scheduled for Richardson in Rockingham County Superior Court.

Because he was on-duty, Richardson faces an enhanced maximum penalty of 2 to 5 years in prison and a $4,000 fine.

The attorney general’s office says the grand jury chose not to indict another officer on assault charges.

Officer Adam Laurent used pepper spray on Bergeron during the incident.
