N.H. STEM Jobs Not Bound By Industry

New Hampshire Employment Security

Business leaders have long argued that Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – or STEM – jobs are an essential – and growing – part of the state’s economy.  Today New Hampshire Employment Security released a series of charts showing how those STEM jobs are distributed across various industries.

The reports published Thursday show that STEM careers can be had in any number of different industries.  In other words, just because you have a degree in software development doesn’t mean you’ll be working for a software company.  In fact, manufacturing companies hire 570 of NH’s software engineers. Annette Neilsen with New Hampshire Employment Security is behind the data:

This is to show how many of these stem occupations they are really employed across a lot of industry in this economy.

An earlier report based on the same dataset shows the market for STEM jobs is growing 7 percent faster than the job market generally. Health occupations are the strongest, outpacing the overall job market by 10 percent.
