Consultant Suggests Stronger Charitable Gaming Law For NH

A New Hampshire panel working on recommending regulations for future casinos is considering strengthening the regulations for charity gaming, as well.

Gaming consultant Maureen Williamson told the New Hampshire Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority on Thursday that stronger internal controls need to be enforced on the private operators of the games to ensure the charities and state are getting the correct share of the take, especially from table games. She suggested other changes so charitable games are treated the same as for a casino.

The New Hampshire panel must submit draft legislation to lawmakers by Dec. 15. The panel also is reviewing whether the regulations governing existing charity gambling should be revised.
