Gov. Hassan Proclaims Nov. 18-22 Anti-Bullying Week

At a Statehouse ceremony Thursday, Governor Maggie Hassan proclaimed the week of Nov. 18-22 as Anti-Bullying Week in New Hampshire.

Hassan says curbing bullying is important to the state’s future.

“It’s important to me and I think to all of us that children look forward to school and show up every day. They need to develop the skills that will prepare them for success both in the workplace, in their homes and families, and as citizens.”

It’s the first designation of its kind for a New Hampshire governor.

On Nov. 15, thousands of New Hampshire middle and high schools students and teachers will gather at the Whittemore Center at UNH for a Stand Up To Bullying event.

The state passed a new anti-bullying law in 2010, requiring schools to incorporate cyber-bullying into their policies.

The new law also requires school districts to report cases of bullying annually to the state.
