Flags At Half-Staff For Fallen N.H. Soldier

New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch has directed flags to fly at half-staff in honor of a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.

Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Savard is being buried Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery.

The 29-year-old Savard was originally from Jefferson. He later moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz.

The Defense Department said Savard died Oct. 13 in Khanabad District, Afghanistan while on patrol during combat operations. He died from small arms fire.

Savard was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg.
