N.H. House lawmakers took testimony today on several bills that would reduce the power of unions.
They include a repeal of collective bargaining for state employees, and banning public sector unions from charging non-members the cost of negotiating contracts. The hearings drew a big crowd of opponents, including many union members. Diana Lacy is president of the state employees association.
“This is an employer agreed upon contract and this is a shared relationship. And by the way they are always, always approved by legislative bodies. We are trying to fix something that is not broken.”
The bills renew the battle GOP leaders and organized labor waged last year over anti-union provisions in the state budget and the so-called right to work bill vetoed by Governor Lynch vetoed.
