Computer Problems Continue To Plague Insurance Enrollments in N.H.

Anthem Blue Cross says it’s still having trouble processing some new health insurance enrollments because of computer problems.

At a legislative committee hearing in Concord on Tuesday, Anthem's Director of Government Relations Paula Rogers told lawmakers the federal website Healthcare.gov is working better for consumers trying to sign up for coverage. But behind the scenes, she says Anthem isn’t always receiving complete and accurate enrollment forms.

“Our concern from a consumer perspective is, somebody who has gone online, believes they have selected a plan and enrolled, and somehow there is a back-end issue,” says Rogers.

Last week, federal officials said about 10% of all sign-ups nationally were marred by computer-generated errors.

Anthem says it is monitoring the issue and will work with consumers and the New Hampshire Insurance Department to ensure a smooth transition in January.
