Renewable Energy Advocates To Unveil New Campaign In Portsmouth

WPS Geography

Environmentalists will kick off a new campaign for clean energy development in Portsmouth Wednesday.

The League of Conservation Voters' "Clean Energy for All" project spans 30 states, including New Hampshire.

State Director Rob Werner says they're unveiling the campaign in Portsmouth because zeroing out greenhouse gas emissions and using all renewable sources of power are now part of that city's energy policy goals.

He says they want to promote that kind of change.

"What can residents encourage their leaders to do on the local level to move towards renewable energy and make these commitments to climate change action?" he says.

He says local reforms are even more important as federal officials roll back some Obama-era energy policies.

Werner and others will talk more about the new campaign at 11 a.m. at Portsmouth Public Library.
