The HUDSON SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE proudly presents the first annual REPURPOSING AND RECYCLING CONTEST Rules 1. Contestants must be Hudson residents 2. Parental permission required if under age 18 3. Each contestant is allowed one entry in each category, “artistic” or “functional” 4. An “artistic” entry is one that has purely artistic value 5. A “functional” entry is one that performs a new purpose or use 6. Suggested grading criteria is entries should be graded on amount of material that is adapted from other things versus purchased new for that purpose 7. We say suggested, because voting will be done by other Hudson residents and as such may be subjective 8. Voting will take place at a public place that is yet to be determined, perhaps either a school or the library 9. Contest entries too large or unwieldly to be displayed at the voting location may display pictures from various angles highlighting the relevant features 10. Each voter may vote for one and only one entry in each category. Currently there is no provision separation among entries by the age of the contestant 11. First, second, and third place in each category will be determined by the total number of votes received by an entry in that category 12. We envision this contest to be structured similarly to the Hudson School District art contest where artworks on display at the high school are voted on by the public. The school district art contest is separated by age, whereas this contest is separated into just the two categories 13. It is suggested each entry, whether as is or by photograph, be accompanied by an explanation of exactly what was used, reused, and/or repurposed, as well as what was not 14. DEADLINE: Entries must be received by Monday, March 18, 2019 Questions may be asked via our email, Facebook group, or at our public committee meetings
