Event Description

Enfield, NH – Shaker Bridge Theatre has announced its 2018-19 theatre season of five shows running October 11th through May 19, 2019. Outside Mullingar kicks off the season Thursday, October 11. SBT Founder and Director Bill Coons read hundreds of scripts in his search of five plays for this season, which offers a wide array of styles and comedic genres by some of the theater world's hottest contemporary playwrights. “I’ve selfishly selected plays I’m in love with and can’t wait to bring them to life,” said Coons. “When I select a play I’m going to produce it has to be something that’s so good and challenging that I’m willing to be obsessed with it for months.” The 2018-19 Shaker Bridge Theatre season includes: · Outside Mullingar by John Patrick Shanley, October 11-28, 2018 · Over the Tavern by Tom Dudzick, December 6-23 · Dry Powder by Sarah Burgess, February 7-24, 2019 · The Taming by Laura Gunderson, March 28 – April 14, 2019 · Women in Jeopardy by Wendy MacLeod, May 2-19, 2019 Outside Mullingar by John Patrick Shanley October 11-28, 2018 Directed by Bill Coons This Tony Award nominee for Best Play is from the author of Doubt and Moonstruck and is a romantic comedy set in rural Ireland. This tender-hearted portrait reminds us that it’s never too late to take a chance on love. Over the Tavern by Tom Dudzick December 6-23 Directed by Bill Coons The Pazinski family has a lot going on in their cramped Buffalo apartment. This touching depiction of 1959 Americana provides a warm and hilarious look at family, growing up, and God. Dry Powder by Sarah Burgess February 7-24, 2019 Directed by Mark Bergren This viciously, deliciously funny new play is about the people shaping and skewing the American economy. The game is on in this razor-sharp performance about the price of success and the real cost of getting the deal done. The Taming by Laura Gunderson March 28 – April 14, 2019 Directed by Kent Burnham In this hilarious, raucous, all-female “power play” inspired by Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, a Miss America contestant teams up with an ultra-conservative, a bleeding heart liberal and the founding fathers to revolutionize the government. Women in Jeopardy by Wendy MacLeod Directed by Bill Coons May 2 – May 19, 2019 In the fuzzy comfort of middle-age, divorcees Mary and Jo trade their wine glasses for spy glasses. Someone has to save their friend Liz from a deranged dentist in this hilarious off-road adventure.
