An Effort To Bring Techno Home To Detroit

Techno music was born and raised in Detroit. The genre was created in the early ’80s by Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May. It was an underground scene in Detroit, but a few years later, Europe got wind of the music and it became mainstream overseas.

These days, techno music is still more popular in places like London and Berlin than it is Detroit, but as Emily Fox of Here & Now contributor Michigan Radio reports, that might be changing.
