Cover of

In the 1920s and ’30s, Dr. Perry Baird was a rising star in Boston’s medical community. But his struggle with bipolar disorder – then known as manic depression – hampered his life.

Dr. Baird left his young family and disappeared from his daughters’ lives. Mimi Baird, one of his daughters, sought out the truth about her father and has written a book about him called “He Wanted the Moon.”

Here & Now’s Lisa Mullins speaks with Baird about her book and what she discovered about her father.
