3 Stories Of Dishonest Journalists – And Whether They Deserve Forgiveness

Three stories of plagiarizing journalists have popped up in a single week.

Many of Fareed Zakaria’s pieces, some from as long ago as 1998, have been revealed to have sloppy or no attribution.

Jonah Lehrer, the former writer from The New Yorker who infamously fabricated quotes from Bob Dylan, just announced a book deal with Penguin Random House.

And Hanna Rosin published an article in The New Republic on Monday explaining why she’s come to forgive former colleague and friend Stephen Glass for his momentous fabrication scandal in the 1990s.

NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik talks to Here & Now’s Sacha Pfeiffer about journalistic plagiarism – and whether plagiarizers ever merit a second chance.
