Shani Davis Grabs Speedskating Gold in 1,000 Meters

Overcoming a slow start, Shani Davis used a powerful finish to win the 1,000-meter men's speedskating competition in Turin. He became the first African American to win an individual Olympic gold medal in the Winter Games. Fellow American Joey Cheek, who already had a gold for the 500-meter event, came in second place.
