In Israel

NPR's Linda Gradstein in Jerusalem reports as Likud Party members re-elected Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as the party's leader, Palestinian gunmen opened fire in a town in northern Israel today. The attack came just hours after the terrorist attacks in Kenya. Five Israelis and the two Palestinian gunmen were killed in the incident in the town of Beit Shean, near the border with the West Bank.
