I provide anesthesia and have seen a sharp drop off of people getting preventative care. It seems that people are only coming in to have procedures done that are absolutely necessary. There is very little preventative care being done. Nurses and other healthcare providers have to take unpaid days off. Hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers are finding it harder and harder to keep healthcare in rural areas. From what I have seen and heard it is because of high deductibles and/or no healthcare coverage making it very difficult for people to pay for healthcare.  [more]
The hardest thing for my family over the last couple of years has been the increasing cost of healthcare and NH's insistence on funding education with local property taxes. I am one of those who is trying to continue working past 65. My husband is retired. We have pretty good health insurance in terms of coverage from my work, but the cost goes up faster than my pay. I can't really afford to retire until the mortgage is paid off.   [more]
