Blog-Blog

By Danielle Lima

This week has been an incredibly fast one- I can’t believe it’s Friday already! I really need to start writing down what I do here every day… because come Friday… I do what I’ve been doing for the past 10 minutes or so… sitting here trying to remember what I did the last couple days… and drawing a complete blank. Maybe if I just start writing…

I’m here three times a week, and each morning I come in, my task is to post that day’s show to the web page. As I’ve explained before, this involves a few steps: come up with a headline, summary, and photo… edit the script for capitalizations, etc, and add links.

A Word With the "Web-Savvy" Intern

By Danielle Lima

Well, I’ve been here for almost a month now! This week was about a 9.125 on the cool-o-meter. Let me give you a little description.

Yes, I'm Alive!

By Danielle Lima

So, things are still going great. It’s great to finally be a part of something relevant to my interest in “the real world.” Aside from the fact that I’ve scored an amazing opportunity to work with NHPR, just the thought of contributing to something that will become a part of many lives within thought and conversation is that amazing feeling of accomplishment, success, and of course, who doesn’t like to feel a little “important?”

Status: Intern

By Danielle Lima

"Rebecca, is there anything Danielle can do?"

"...This computer is taking FOREVER to load!"

"Hey, I know. Danielle, I want you to write a blog."

"Okay!"

If you had been mischievously crouched in the corner behind the Word of Mouth cubicle walls today at about 1:15P.M, this is the inside scoop you would've scored: Danielle is starting her blog, and there's no stopping these spastic keyboard fingers. It's here. It's started. It's 5 minutes ago.

This is going to be a sort of documentation-type blog. I'm going to tell all you curious folk what its like to be a 21-year-old college senior in an entire office of people who are double my IQ with their quick-witted facts and treasury of vocab.

Senator Kelly Ayotte Should Doll Up Her Office

As one of the nation's top experts on U.S. Senate office decor, no one is more pleased than me that New Hampshire's Kelly Ayotte decided to bring "Oscar the Moose" to Washington.

Whatever you do, DON'T call it a pie!

(Photo by Leo Reynolds via Flickr Creative Commons)

I learned a little trivia while watching the film Answer This in preparation for today's interview with writer and director Chris Farah.

For one, I learned that the chemical symbol for Potassium is "K." I also learned that one should never, ever forget the lyrics to any song by the New Seekers, and, most important, I learned this:

Those little Trivia Pursuit tokens are not called "pies," or "pie pieces." They're called "wedges" And apparently, that is a really, really important thing to know.

Look How Cute the Wallaby Is!

(Photo by betta design via Flickr Creative Commons)

Today's story on resurrected proteins developed by Australian scientists to fight superbugs pointed to the wallaby as the source for their idea. You see, when that teeny wallaby baby climbes into its mother's pouch to finish cooking, that pouch is a pretty icky place...sort of like if we put our preemies to bed on used kitchen sponges. So the wallaby, as it turns out, has some genes for super-immunity that go far back in evolution..we're talking tens of MILLIONS of years back.

Brace yourself for what Andrew Ridgely looks like today...

Andrew Ridgley

Thanks, @JohnSellers, for blowing my mind. While responding to his Twitter confession of his former Wham! love with my own (somewhat current) Wham! love, I asked the only logical question, #WhateverHappenedtoAndrewRidgely ??

Well, tweeted @JohnSellers, here's what happened: (see photo)

Looks like someone's ready to be our father figure, no?

Thanks, @JohnSellers!
