Rudy Giuliani on his Private Life

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani was in the state today.

At a stop in Derry, he took questions on healthcare, immigration and affordable housing. But the former New York Mayor seemed most animated when he was asked about his personal life.

Throughout this primary, we are airing longer excerpts of the candidates' encounters with voters. The woman who asked this question said she was doing it on behalf of her nephew.

The Man with the Truck and the Marching Music

While turnout has been low, some voters have taken today's election as seriously as in years past.

One of those is Albert Dimmock.

He loaded up his blue and white pick-up truck with election posters and drove around Derry blasting music to rally voters to the polls.

He's been doing it for so long, he's almost a fixture in that town.

Record Turnout in Southern Parts of State

Expanding Interstate 93

A project to widen a portion of I-93 has received mixed reviews. Some say the road is congested and needs to be expanded while others cite the environmental impact. We'll look at the pros and cons of the project and how it could affect towns along the I-93 border. Laura's guests are Nancy Girard, Vice-President of the Conservation Law Foundation and Director of the New Hampshire Advocacy Center, and Dave Juvet, Vice-President of the Business and Industry Association of NH and member of the Safe Roads for Tomorrow group. We'll also hear from David Nelson, Chairman of the Planning Board for the town of Derry, and Bill Klubben, Community Development Director for the town of Bow.

Laid Off Sanmina Workers Due Federal Aid

Laid off Sanmina Corporation workers are eligible for federal assistance to help them find jobs.

The 700 workers in Derry and Hudson lost their jobs due to competition from low cost imports.

As a result they can seek help from the Trade Adjustment Assistance Program.

Brooks Campbell, chief of counseling for the Department of Employment Security, tells NHPR's Mark Bevis the Sanmina workers are in good company.

Derry is the Result of a Split 175 Years Ago
