Tax Evaders' Property Goes to Auction

The saga continues for convicted tax evaders Ed and Elaine Brown of Plainfield.

The couple is still sitting in jail, while many of their possessions sat under the glaring lights of an IRS auction.

NHPR Correspondent Sheryl Rich-Kern attended the auction in Nashua today and files this report.

Browns Taken Into Custody by U.S. Marshals

Plainfield Caught in Middle of Brown Standoff

New Hampshire may dislike taxes and tolerate eccentrics, but the town of Plainfield is getting tired of Ed and Elaine Brown.

The couple has been defying a five year federal prison sentence for not paying their federal income taxes.

They insist they won't be taken alive from their home, a pledge that's become a headache for their hometown.

Federal Authorities Surround Plainfield Tax Evader's Home
