Usually they involve a lot of people sitting in a room calling out ideas, while a moderator scribbles the suggestions on a big pad of paper. But now brainstorming has gone high-tech. One New Hampshire consultant says the new approach could help communities make better decisions, faster. He’s on a crusade to bring the technology here. Mills Close for GoodBy Trish Anderton on Thursday, October 18, 2001.The owners of a mill complex in Berlin and Gorham have announced the mills are shutting down for good. Employees who had been on a temporary layoff since late summer are now being laid off permanently. Berlin Mayor Bob Danderson says the mill?s parent company is due to present a reorganization plan to a bankruptcy court on October 26th. Many Berlin residents hope the mills will eventually be sold. New Hampshire May Be Sliding Into RecessionBy David Darman on Friday, October 5, 2001.President Bush has asked Congress for 75 billion dollars in federal spending and tax cuts to help stimulate the nation?s economy. The president?s call comes just days after the Federal Reserve Board cut interest rates to two and a half percent, the lowest in 40 years. New Hampshire officials hope these moves will help keep the state?s economy from sliding into recession. Mills' Parent Company Goes BustBy Trish Anderton on Monday, September 10, 2001.North Country officials are reacting to news today that the parent company of two mills in Berlin and Gorham has declared bankruptcy. American tissue filed for Chapter Eleven bankruptcy in Delaware. The two mills have stood idle for nearly a month, and the company owes several million dollars in back taxes.
