Steve Barba recently retired after almost five decades at The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel. He began as a 13-year-old caddy and eventually became CEO in his 20s, at a time when the Balsams and other grand resorts were in serious decline. Under his leadership, the Balsams thrived.
