Survey Examines Public Views On Schools

By Jon Greenberg on Thursday, July 15, 2004.

The Education Testing Service, the firm behind the SAT's, the GRE's and many other entrance exams, recently asked Americans about public schools and money. It's the fourth year that ETS has commissioned a team of Democratic and Republican pollsters to see where the public stands on key questions of education policy.

In light of this year's presidential race, the survey paid particular attention to attitudes in the so-called purple states states that could just as easily go either to President Bush or Democrat John Kerry.

As NHPR's Jon Greenberg reports, the results offer a cautionary note to both candidates.
