Bad Astronomy (REBROADCAST)

By Laura Knoy on Monday, February 16, 2004.

From ?crop circles? in the movie ?Signs??to an apocolyptic asteroid destroying Earth in ?Armageddon??..we draw the line between scientific fact and science fiction. Laura's guests are Dr. Phil Plait, Program Manager at NASA Education and Public Outreach at Sonoma State University in California. Phil also runs the "badastronomy.com" website where he tries to separate science fact from science fiction that shows up in our culture. And, John Gianforte, who teaches astronomy at the College for Lifelong Learning. He is also co-founder of the Astronomical Society of Northern New England. John also writes an astronomy column for Foster's Daily Democrat called "Scanning the Heavens."
