The Internet and Politics

By Laura Knoy on Friday, December 5, 2003.

Blogs, MoveOn, MeetUp... This political season has been called the "internet primary". Many of this year's Presidential hopefuls are relying on the internet to communicate with voters, raise money, and get organized for election day. Our guests discuss why this tool is working better for some candidates than others, and whether its success translates to votes. Laura's guests are Michael Cornfield, Research Director of the Institute for Politics, Democracy, and the Internet at George Washington University and Rich Killion, Director of the Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communication at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge. We'll also hear from James Pindell, managing editor and reporter at PolitcsNH.com and Zack Exley, Organizing Director at MoveOn.org.
