'The Exchange' Goes to Portsmouth!

By Laura Knoy on Wednesday, March 14, 2001.

Join us for a discussion of the statewide property tax held at the Music Hall in Portsmouth (www.themusichall.org.) last night. Portsmouth has led the charge in a lawsuit against using a statewide property tax to fund education.
Recently, a lower court ruled in the city's favor and called the tax unconstitutional.
We discussed the future of the tax as the state gets ready to challenge the ruling in the NH Supreme Court. Laura talks with Attorney Tom Closson, lead counsel for the City of Portsmouth (www.cityofportsmouth.com) and the coalition of towns suing the State, and State Representative Frank
Sapareto, a Republican from Derry (gencourt.state.nh.us/ie/house/members/).
