Concord Coalition breaks with GOP on economic plan

By Jon Greenberg on Friday, October 19, 2001.

On Capitol Hill, House Republicans are pressing for an economic stimulus plan that relies heavily on tax cuts for business. Democrats have picked up an unlikely ally in the Concord Coalition. The Coalition, co-founded by former New Hampshire senator Warren Rudman, was created to eliminate deficits and preserve social security. The group recently moved its regional headquarters to New Hampshire and its Northeast Director, Steve Marchand, spoke with NHPR’s Jon Greenberg.

Marchand says new times demand new approaches from fiscal conservatives.
