George Bruno is an attorney and the Managing Director and General Counsel of USA Group International. He served as US Ambassador to Belize, 1994-1997 and has experience in over 45 countries. George received his BA from Hartwick College, Oneonta, New York; JD from George Washington University, Washington, DC, and a Law Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He founded and was the first Executive Director of New Hampshire Legal Assistance and the New Hampshire Public Defender Service. He was a Special Assistant US Attorney for the US Justice Department during the Carter Administration and prosecuted illegal drug and firearm cases in Miami, Florida. For over 25 years, he has practiced as a trial lawyer and consulted on justice systems in the US and abroad. George is a member of the Bars in New York, New Hampshire, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, and the US Supreme Court. Ambassador Bruno currently serves as Chair of the International Law Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association. He also serves as the International Affairs Advisor to the Commandant of the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, Fort Benning, Georgia, an institute created in 2000 by the US Congress to train and educate rising leaders in the military and law enforcement in Latin America. He continues to lecture and perform tasks for the US State Department.
