Requiring Special Permits for Some Dog Breeds

By Laura Knoy on Friday, February 9, 2001.

A new bill in NH would require new owners
of Dobermans, Pit Bulls, or Rottweillers to get a special permit to keep these
dogs. We'll look at whether these breeds are more dangerous than others, and
if the state should be involved in deciding who can own them. Laura's guests
are Rep. Richard Brewster, Republican from Andover, and Dr. Nicholas Dodman,
Director of the Animal Behavior Clinic at Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine.
