Winter Storm: Snow Leads to Slippery Commute, Closings

The winter storm that began overnight will result in 3- to 6- inches of snow accumulation for most of New Hampshire before leaving the region by early evening.

Gov. Chris Sununu says the state Emergency Operations Center opened at 6 a.m. to monitor the impact on this morning's commute. Major highways are posted 45 mph top speed.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the Lakes Region to the southern tier, where snowfall is expected to be heaviest. A winter weather advisory was issued for Grafton County and part of the White Mountains.

There is a long list of cancellations due to the storm. School closings include:  Amherst, Bedford, Bow, Claremont, Concord, Derry, Dover, Dunbarton, Exeter, Goffstown, Hampstead, Hampton, Hooksett, Hudson, Inter-Lakes, Oyster River, John Stark Regional, Kearsarge Regional, Laconia, Lebanon, Londonderry, Manchester, Nashua, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Raymond, Salem, Souhegan, Sunapee, and Unity public schools.

In the New Hampshire House of Representatives, it's "business as usual," with regular meetings as scheduled in the legislative calendar.

State and local police reported a number of motor vehicle accidents early Wednesday morning.
