Vermont, Connecticut Governors To Campaign For Clinton

The Democratic governors of Connecticut and neighboring Vermont are heading to New Hampshire to campaign as surrogates for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Govs. Dannel Malloy of Connecticut and Peter Shumlin of Vermont are traveling the state Monday to promote Clinton's candidacy. Shumlin will focus specifically on Clinton's recently released plan on college debt and affordability as he campaigns in Hanover, Claremont, Peterborough and Portsmouth.

Malloy, meanwhile, will remain in the state through Tuesday, attending an organizing event in Amherst and a phone bank in Nashua.

The two are not the first surrogates to campaign for Clinton here. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a longtime Clinton ally, visited on her behalf in early August.

Few candidates, on either side, have sent high-profile surrogates to New Hampshire at this point in the campaign.
