Van Ostern Touts Plan to Modernize (and Digitize) State Operations

Democratic candidate for governor, Colin Van Ostern, announced his plans to modernize state government and cut red tape for New Hampshire businesses. He made the remarks alongside business leaders at the education tech firm Motivis Learning in Salem.

Van Ostern’s proposals include digitizing the process for businesses to contract with the state, incentivizing state agencies to be more efficient, and eliminating the state’s net metering cap, which currently limits the amount of solar energy that can be sold on to the electric grid.

“It was doubled last year and that’s a good start, but we need to end the cap entirely and have a sustainable payment model that’s fair to all consumers so that we’re not holding back one of the state’s promising industries, which is solar and renewable energy.”

Van Ostern’s Republican opponent, Chris Sununu, recently offered his own plans to cut red tape in the state, including a 90-day moratorium on new state regulations.
