The New Hampshire ski season officially kicked off this week with six mountains hoping to start up its lifts for the Thanksgiving weekend.

So far Bretton Woods and Loon Mountain in Lincoln have already opened. Waterville Valley, Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch, Mount Sunapee in Newbury and Cranmore Mountain in North Conway are planning to open their slopes on Friday.

Executive director of Ski New Hampshire Jessyca Keeler says the season is already looking to be better than last year.

“You’re going to see two, three, five trails to start and especially with the temperatures being the way they’ve been, they’ve been nice and cold, perfect for snowmaking, you are going to see a lot more trails open faster," Keeler said.

Keeler says skiers should plan on buying tickets early as most mountains offer discounted prices online during the first part of the season.
