Report: Former House Speaker Bill O'Brien Won't Seek Re-Election

Allegra Boverman for NHPR

Former Speaker of the House Bill O’Brien says he won’t seek re-election next year.

The Mont Vernon Republican served as Speaker of the House from 2010 to 2012.

O’Brien failed in his bid to reclaim the post earlier this year after he was upset by Hudson Republican Shawn Jasper.

O’Brien tells the Union Leader he has no plans to run for another office once his sixth term expires next year.

He says he’ll continue to serve as co-chair of Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign in New Hampshire.
