Close to 100 people rallied in support of transgender equality at Victory Park in Manchester Saturday. They danced through hula hoops, sang songs and waved flags.
Peter Collins of Merrimack says that for most of his life, he hadn’t thought much about transgender rights.
"Then when my daughter came out as trans, it became an important issue," Collins said. "Most people, if they knew someone who is trans, would see how important it is."
Rachael Booth reacted to President Trump’s recent tweet banning transgendered individuals from serving in the military. Booth was in the navy during the Vietnam War era.
"With one idiotic tweet, he sent all of our brave transgender soldiers, sailors and airmen back into their closets once again feeling like second-class citizens living in a country that doesn’t want them," Booth said.
Booth also wants New Hampshire to pass a law that prevents transgender discrimination.
