The New Hampshire Senate has passed a bill that would allow two more medical marijuana dispensaries to open in the state.
Lawmakers legalized medical use of marijuana for the treatment of a limited number of conditions in 2013. It can be purchased at licensed alternative treatment centers in Lebanon, Dover, Merrimack and Plymouth.
The therapeutic cannabis bill would authorize the state Department of Health and Human Services to establish a dispensary center in the area of Carroll, Coos, and Grafton counties, as well as another serving Cheshire and Sullivan counties.
The centers would be limited to dispensing the approved marijuana usage; they would be prohibited from cultivation or other production activities at those sites.
The bill now goes to the House.
